Jun WangHOW ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY CHANGED MY LIFE
Me, a few years back, a bundle of stress and anxiety. I'm talking sweaty palms before meetings, heart racing at the thought of public speaking, the works. I'd tried everything – deep breathing, positive affirmations, even a brief stint with meditation (which mostly resulted in me falling asleep).
Then, at a workshop I attended mostly for the free snacks, I stumbled upon EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). The presenter started talking about tapping on specific points on your body to relieve emotional stress. I'll be honest, my first thought was, "Yeah, right. Next, they'll be selling magic beans."
But curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to give it a shot. What did I have to lose, right?
You focus on a specific issue while tapping on certain points on your face and body. These points correspond to meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. The idea is that this tapping helps to balance your energy system while you confront and process emotions.
My first attempt was... interesting. I felt a bit silly, tapping away and talking to myself. But as I focused on my anxiety about an upcoming presentation, something shifted. It wasn't earth-shattering, but I felt a little calmer, a little more centered.
Intrigued, I dove deeper. I watched videos, read books, and practiced regularly. And you know what? It started working. The constant knot in my stomach began to loosen.
What I love about EFT is its simplicity. No special equipment, no need for a quiet meditation room. I've tapped in bathroom stalls before big meetings, in my car before difficult conversations, even under the table during particularly stressful family dinners.
Now, I'm not saying EFT is a miracle cure. It didn't make all my problems disappear. But it gave me a tool to manage my emotions, to take the edge off anxiety and stress.
If you're struggling with stress, anxiety, or even specific phobias, why not give EFT a try? There are tons of free resources online to get you started. Just remember, it might feel a bit odd at first, but give it a chance. You might be surprised at the results.
